About Role

We are looking for a highly strategic and execution-focused Director - Technical SEO & Content to lead enterprise-scale search visibility initiatives across traditional and AI-driven search ecosystems, based out of our Bangalore, India office. This role sits at the intersection of Technical SEO, Content Strategy, Data Analytics, Entity Optimization, and AI Search/GEO (Generative Engine Optimization).

You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Content, UX, Analytics, and Marketing teams to drive scalable organic growth, AI visibility, crawlability, indexation, and machine-readable content architectures. This is a Director-level leadership role with P&L awareness, significant cross-functional influence, and ownership of the Technical SEO product vision alongside content strategy execution.

Key Responsibilities

Technical SEO & Platform Optimization

  • Lead enterprise Technical SEO initiatives across large-scale websites and digital platforms for Milestone clients.
  • Drive improvements in crawlability, rendering, indexing, Core Web Vitals, internal linking, site architecture, and page discoverability.
  • Partner with Engineering and Product teams to operationalize SEO requirements into scalable platform capabilities.
  • Build and maintain SEO governance frameworks, QA processes, and technical standards suited for the India delivery team.
  • Optimize XML sitemaps, robots directives, canonicalization, pagination, hreflang, faceted navigation, and JavaScript rendering.

Content SEO & Search Experience

  • Lead scalable content optimization strategies focused on search intent, topic clusters, semantic relevance, and entity depth.
  • Partner with Content teams to develop AI-ready content frameworks and content governance processes.
  • Drive content audits, cannibalization analysis, content decay analysis, and optimization roadmaps across client portfolios.
  • Develop scalable workflows using AI tools, automation, templates, and structured content systems.
  • Ensure all content aligns with modern AI search and answer engine behaviors.

AI Search / GEO / Entity Optimization

  • Define and execute strategies for AI visibility, citation optimization, and retrieval readiness across client digital properties.
  • Collaborate on structured data, schema, entity mapping, knowledge graph alignment, and semantic search initiatives.
  • Improve machine readability and AI comprehension across digital properties to drive GEO performance.
  • Partner with Product teams to operationalize GEO and AI visibility capabilities at scale.

Data, Analytics & Automation

  • Deeply analyze GSC, GA4, BigQuery, log files, crawl data, and enterprise SEO datasets to identify growth opportunities.
  • Build scalable dashboards, reporting frameworks, and performance measurement systems for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Leverage SQL, Python, APIs, Looker Studio, BigQuery, and AI workflows to automate insights and SEO operations.
  • Establish measurable KPIs tied to traffic quality, AI visibility, rankings, indexing health, and conversions.

Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Lead and mentor a team of Technical SEO and Content SEO specialists based in Bangalore.
  • Act as the strategic bridge between Marketing, Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Content teams globally.
  • Influence roadmap prioritization and advocate for SEO/search experience at the platform level.
  • Drive operational clarity, accountability, and execution excellence across all client initiatives.
  • Collaborate with US-based leadership to align on strategy, priorities, and delivery standards.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a Director-level search leader who combines deep technical expertise with sharp business acumen and a passion for AI-driven search innovation. You are equally comfortable digging into crawl logs and schema markup as you are shaping product roadmaps, presenting to C-suite stakeholders, and translating SEO performance into business outcomes.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Technical SEO, Content SEO, or Organic Search Strategy, preferably in an agency or SaaS environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing enterprise-scale websites and complex SEO programs across multiple clients or verticals.
  • Strong understanding of crawling, rendering, indexing, information architecture, and search systems.
  • Hands-on expertise with Google Search Console, GA4, Screaming Frog, BigQuery, Looker Studio, Ahrefs / Semrush / enterprise SEO platforms, and Jupyter Notebook / Colab.
  • Strong understanding of structured data, schema markup, entity optimization, and semantic SEO.
  • Experience working closely with Product and Engineering organizations.
  • Proven ability to lead and grow a team of SEO and content professionals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to translate data into strategic decisions.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools and workflows for SEO automation.
  • Experience in Technical SEO product development or management.
  • Business acumen with the ability to connect SEO and content performance to revenue impact, client retention, and business growth outcomes.
